Heavy Implantation Bleeding and Positive Pregnancy Test

Heavy Implantation Bleeding and Positive Pregnancy Test

Several signs and symptoms could suggest that women are pregnant. Each sign may not show up, so there is a need to detect pregnancy or otherwise using pregnancy test solutions. Thankfully, this can even be done right at home using a home pregnancy test kit that tests for hCG levels. This is a ready-made option to see if you will test positive for pregnancy.

Implantation bleeding can occur as an early sign of pregnancy. Would you like to know more about implantation bleeding, including what heavy implantation bleeding might suggest? Then, keep reading this IST Health sexuality report as it will provide the answers that you need.

How Is Implantation Bleeding an Early Sign of Pregnancy?

Implantation bleeding is one of the normal and early (but not definite) signs of pregnancy. It occurs because of nature-caused damage to the small-sized blood vessels in the lining of the uterus after implantation. The long pregnancy process starts with conception. This is when the sperm from the male, makes its way to the fallopian tube; where it meets with the egg or eggs released from the ovary.

The next process is fertilization which births the zygote – the product of the union of the sperm and egg. Afterward, it is implantation. For this to happen the normal way, the zygote moves away from the fallopian tube and further down to the uterus.

This process makes it take the form of morula and not just a zygote any longer, but it would go on to take another form – blastocyst. The blastocyst digs into the uterine lining and this is what causes implantation bleeding. In the process of digging into the lining of the uterus, some small-sized blood vessels in this place can be punctuated – implantation bleeding.

The time taken between the beginning of fertilization and the end of implantation alone can be as short as 8 days, and as long as 18 days. More often than not, the time taken is around 2 weeks. This is not even counting how the process is initiated during ovulation. So, it is not a day or week experience, but indeed a long process before the baby is eventually born. However, pregnancy can be made as seamless as possible with advice and professional care from your doctor (pediatrician).

How Is Implantation Bleeding an Early Sign of Pregnancy?

How Common Is Implantation Bleeding?

Implantation bleeding is a pretty normal pregnancy experience but not all pregnant women will have this experience. The report from the IST Health team is that 1 out of every 3 pregnant women will be experiencing implantation bleeding as one of the early pregnancy signs.

The flow of blood during this time should not be a worry as it is light spotting and only occurs for a short time. The flow will be too light to form blood clots. This is as opposed to your menstrual period which is characterized by heavy bleeding at some point. There are other distinct ways implantation bleeding is way different from blood flow during your menstrual period and they include:

  • Color of the blood flow – Usually, you would notice a pink or brown-like spotting from the vaginal opening. This is rather than the red kind that is associated with your menstrual period
  • Level of pain – Pain may be felt but it is just going to be light cramping and nothing intense
  • Time of the flow – except for late implantation bleeding, it would not happen during your menstrual period

As mentioned above, implantation bleeding is supposed to be light bleeding – spotting. But what happens if implantation bleeding is heavy? You can find out right below.

Possible Reasons for Heavy Implantation Bleeding

As a pregnant woman, your decisions need to be well-informed in you and your baby’s best interest. For example, there are things you should and should not eat during this period. You may want to read this report on whether or not you can eat sausage when pregnant.

In essence, your decisions should not be based on stories but you should be properly guided by your doctor. In light of this, some possible reasons why heavy implantation bleeding may occur include:

Fraternal Twins

Fraternal twins are not identical. The reason is that they are not a product of a split process of one egg. Rather, they come to be by different sperm fertilizing different eggs. As a result, they put more pressure on the lining of the uterus, during implantation. This causes more damage to the blood vessels there.

Ectopic Pregnancy

An ectopic pregnancy will test positive for pregnancy despite growing in the wrong place. Rather than growing in the womb, the growth often happens in the fallopian tube. It could also happen in places like the cervix.

Well, anywhere other than the womb is the wrong place and the growth should result in miscarriage eventually. The miscarriage causes heavy bleeding.
